The $500 Diverse Writers grant is intended to support new and emerging writers from underrepresented and underprivileged groups, such as writers of color, women, queer writers, disabled writers, working-class writers, etc. The SLF annually offers, since 2014, two diversity-centered grants: Diverse Writers and Diverse Worlds, both intended to foster the creation of speculative fiction work rich in diversity. THE SLF $500 DIVERSE WRITERS AND $500 DIVERSE WORLDS GRANTS Individual artists must work under a fiscal sponsor in order to be funded. To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit arts-serving organization doing its work in San Francisco, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties (west of the Caldecott Tunnels). Priority will be given to contemporary performance-oriented. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to projects in the areas of dance, theater, visual arts, music, festivals, poetry, literature, and publications. The foundation is accepting applications for its Community Arts Program, which supports local artists who are creating new and innovative work that is representative of the diverse cultures and communities of the Bay Area. ZELLERBACH FAMILY FOUNDATION FOR BAY AREA PROJECTS This one time grant is awarded to an emerging writer of color of crime fiction.
